If you're wondering what w00tstock is,
1) Are you sure you're in the right place? You were looking for my LJ, right?
& 2) it is a special event for geeks of every stripe. Television host/special-effects artist Adam Savage (“MythBusters”), actor/author/blogger Wil Wheaton (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Stand By Me”) and music-comedy duo Paul and Storm present a night of songs, readings, comedy, demonstrations, short films, special guests, and other clever widgets born from and dedicated to the enthusiasms, obsessions, trials and joys of geek pride.

The time, date, etc of the Mpls w00tstock are:
06/07/10
Minneapolis, MN
Guthrie Theater
7:30pm
Tickets on sale NOW!!!

The w00tstock page is HERE

This show is going to be so seriously full of awesome! Besides the 4 main trouble makers (3 if you count Paul & Storm as one person) the Mpls show will also have special guests Trace Beaulieu and Bill Corbett & Kevin Murphy of MST3K fame!

Tickets went on sale this morning at 11, and as of about 10 minutes ago here is what's left:

1:21 Saturday

That's less than one day w/no advertising other than Twitter & word of mouth. This Mutha-F'er is going to sell out, so go buy your tickets now if you want in!

I've been wanting to see/meet Wil Wheaton for years. And now not only is he coming to Mpls, but it will be only 1 week after I go down to the Phoenix ComiCon where he will also be. *insert fangirl geekout*

This feels like it's been a very long day.

Twitter, Tweetdeck, and the search for something new )

Geeks + Minneapolis = w00tstock 2.3 )

The next 3 months ROCK! )

Video of the all black penguin! Only 13 seconds, but it should be enough to shut up all the "It's Photoshopped!" idiots, right? (Um, the video is longer than 13 seconds, but the penguin clip itself is only 13 seconds)

Who's the black private dick That's a sex machine to all the chicks? )

OK, this has all turned out much longer than planned. Let's throw a few LJ cuts on up there.
And now that I've taken this short break to babble at y'all, it's back into the design world for me. I'm putting together a newspaper ad for work.

'Tis that time of the year...
It is dreadfully slow and boring at work!

[livejournal.com profile] hellbob & I acquired our favorite crazy redhead yesterday. Our friend Becca came down from Fargo last night for a couple days. She brought a friend with. I actually can't remember his first name. It's something like Arthur or Arnold. Something with an A. She calls him the Amazing Woo, the Woo, or her Asian. I guess he's some guy she met gaming online, he came out to visit/meet her, and has now been staying with her and her husband for a couple months. Kind of strange, really. They're here because he wants to see the Mall of America.

Today, I got some happy news that may or may not apply to me. JAMES MARSTERS IS GOING TO BE AT THE PHOENIX COMIC CON!!!!! This is a convention that I'd already mentioned to Rick before that I'd like to go to, because besides all the cool people like [livejournal.com profile] spellwight and a bunch w/o LJ who live in Phoenix, Wil Wheaton is one of the PhxCC guests! And Felicia Day! And [livejournal.com profile] chieftyrol (Aaron Douglas)! And John Scalzi! And tons of others!

But James! I really really really really wanna go now. If flying is too expensive, maybe [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm & I can embark on another Epic Road Trip To Touch James Marsters. Seriously, this is the closest he's been to Minnesota since Toronto. Want!

The PhxCC is only $30 for a full weekend pass. Unfortunately the closest Worldmark resort is about 100 miles away, so we can't stay at the timeshare for free, but my father-in-law has a place on the north side of town in Surprise that we could probably stay at. Unfortunately, due to Phoenix's complete lack of a sensible freeway system, it is only 34 miles away but google maps says it is a 50 minute drive, 1 hr 20 mins in traffic. That plus the need to rent a car means that it might just be cheapest and easiest to get a cheap hotel room near the convention center, or near someone I know in Phx who will be going to the con. Of course, and even cheaper route would be for me to just stay in James' room w/him... LOL
