Because between school and work I have sooooo much free time...

I just filled out my application to volunteer for Operation Photo Rescue. It is a worldwide network of volunteers who donate their time and Photoshop skills to restore damaged photographs from disaster areas.

It's been awhile since I've done a Spike photoshop manip for [livejournal.com profile] darker_spike...
I whipped this one together while watching tv tonight.

I hadn't gotten around to filling up my 100 icons yet, and now I have 132 and that number will keep growing...

Tell me what icons I need!

I like to use icons I've made or someone has made especially for me. No good reason for this since there are plenty of icons out there nicer than mine. I just like the fact that the icons are another extension of me.

I prefer photos I've taken, but if it's something I don't have a pic of I don't mind using clip art. For tv/movie icons I like doing the screen cap myself, but it's not neccessary. It's just me being OCD.

Is there a phrase or quote I need on an icon? Is there a show/movie/band that I need?

I've got room for 66 more user pics so all suggestions will be considered.

Adobe is doing a public beta of their new software, Lightroom

I literally just downloaded it and opened it, so I can't tell you anything about how it works yet, but hey, it's free! :)

"Project: Lightroom is Adobe’s effort to engage the professional photography community in a new way, giving you the opportunity to kick the tires and shape the feature set of a new tool being created just for you. Ultimately, we want Lightroom to be truly built from the ground up by photographers, for photographers, helping solve your unique workflow challenges.

We're releasing a preview build now so that you have plenty of time to give us feedback on what’s working for you, and what isn't. Your participation is important. So, don’t delay. Download now and send us your feedback before the Lightroom Beta 2 build expires June 30, 2006.

To learn more, check out the Lightroom Beta 2 Overview and Getting Started with the Develop Module video below which will help get you up and running on Lightroom.

Note: Although initially available as a beta for Macintosh, Lightroom will later support both the Windows and Macintosh platforms. Sign-up to be notified when the Windows version becomes available."

I was telling [livejournal.com profile] girlpire about using pics of James Marsters for one of my homework assignments. The assignment was to show motion, and on stage, James hops around like a Tigger on crack! He was the perfect subject for that assignment.

The teacher really seemed to like my assignment that I turned in tonight. It was the one where I had to illustrate the fortune I got in a fortune cookie. Mine was "You will travel to many places."

Yay! Happy mail that wasn't bills!

I got the O'Reilly Photoshop filter book that I had ordered! Yay! Back when I ordered it, it hadn't been released yet. It's [livejournal.com profile] dakegra's fault because he was talking about O'Reilly books and he linked to their site and I wandered over and found that they don't just have boring computer stuff, but also have Photoshop stuff.

Then I checked the mailbox and I found an envelope from Brian at Coverville in there... I gots me a $20 gift certificate for Tower Records! I'm gonna have to decide what I want to get now...

And now I'm just waiting for [livejournal.com profile] hellbob to come home because we're babysitting the twins tonight so [livejournal.com profile] akdar & [livejournal.com profile] genevra can go see the Harry Potter movie. You get one guess what the subject of tonight's photo will be! :)

I'm home from OmegaCon.
I logged on to check my email (over 48 hours with no internets! egads!) and learned that I got an award! Yay me!
Last week's PhotoShop challenge was "Exotic Spike" and one of my entries was THIS manip of Spike as a Native American.
The challenges are just for fun and there are no prizes other than a nifty banner graphic that says you won but they are fun to do and they help hone my photoshop skills.

And now I have this nifty thing:

I'm feeling really proud of myself for this one because there were some phenomenal entries this week, and there were a LOT of them! (Over 50 of them!)
So yeah, only 3 winners and 3 runners-up. I'm happy! :)

I made two of them:

We got the next assignment for my Photoshop class tonight. Will passed out fortune cookies to everyone in the class, and we have to take the fortune we got and illustrate it. I got lucky with mine: "You will travel to many places" That should be easy to illustrate!

The current assignment in my Photoshop class was to do an animation. We had to put everything together in one document, (320 x 240 pixels, 72 ppi) with layers for all the frames. Then we edited it in Image Ready to get the animation frames set. Then we exported it to Quicktime.
I had originally planned to do something with the tigers at the zoo, and that was the main reason for yesterday's trip. But... When I was in the tropics trail the female White-Cheeked Gibbon was being pretty active so I ended up taking a bunch of shots of her.
My finished product can be found here:

It's nothing too spectacular, but I'm a comment whore so I'm posting it anyway! :)

Grrrr

Don't you hate it when you have writer's block? Except it's technically photoshopper's block.
I have to do a Quicktime animation. It has to be 320 x 240 ppi w/a resolution of 72 ppi. I start it in Photoshop, animate it in Image Ready, and then export it to Quicktime.
I have no clue what I want to do for it.
Bleah.
This would be easier if i could use screen caps from a DVD but my teach has a rule that you can only use it if you shot it or drew it.
I would take pictures of Lump for it, but as you can guess from her name, she's not the most active of cats.

[livejournal.com profile] raven_arani had asked how I turned the dress pink. Here's a quick Photoshop tutorial on the process I used. I did it using Photoshop CS. Also, I use a Mac, so if it says Command for a key combo all you PC people should use Control instead.

Open the picture in Photoshop:

Lots more pictures under here... )
And now you have a new color!
