hellbob and I are going to Chicago for a weekend next month! :)We've got tickets for a live taping of This American Life on April 19th, and so we'll be going out to spend the whole weekend.
It feels so utterly decadent though. Instead of driving to Chicago we are going to fly!
Southwest airlines just started doing Mpls-Chicago flights, and so it's only $100 each round trip. It's going to cost a little bit more than gas would have, but it's going to cut out over 10 hours of travel time, allow us to get a full night's sleep on Sunday, and I won't have to miss any work to drive there or back.
And there are Nibley's in Chicago!
Did you sense a great sadness in the force? Yes, the rumors are true and the HellPeeps have vacated the Windy City. We contemplated kidnapping the kniblet and bringing her home with us, but she wouldn't come without dibsy and he was at work.
We had a fantabulous time in Chicago and didn't really want to come back to the real world. At least I'm not working today so I'm going to just hang out at school and study for my test. Maybe wander down to Eli's in a bit for some lunch...

Still in Chicago
Mar. 12th, 2007 09:58 amWe had an incredibly yummy breakfast of freshly baked croissants and hot chocolate to start the day yesterday. The croissants were baked by a member of the U.S. Baking Team, no less. Who knew there was such a thing?
That was followed by a walk down to Lake Michigan.
After getting back from the walk,kniblet dropped hellbob & I off at the theater for Blue Man Group. The show was a lot of fun. Moose loved it too.
After meeting one of the Blue Men:
Moose decided to join them:
After the show we went to Oz park and found the brick that the Nibley had bought:
It was in front of the Scarecrow statue. Here arehellbob & me by the statue:
That was followed by our first Chicago Deep Dish pizza experience. Yum!
Then back to the apartment to change into our pajamas, drink some wine, and watch more episodes of Black Books.
Another wonderful day.

hellbob & I successfully found our way to Chez Nibley about two hours and two beers ago. It's quite a lovely house! :) kniblet has been mis-hearing hellbob all night. She must have sex on the brain... "Super Mario Brothers" was heard as "Sperm-ario Brothers" and "Sesame Street" was heard as "Sex Mystery."Zoooooooo!!!!!!!!
Jan. 27th, 2007 12:36 pmMiss kniblet called last night with news that made me very happy. When we go to Chicago in March she's got a behind the scenes tour of Lincoln Park Zoo scheduled! Yay! Her friend Dominic is a vet there. kniblet must really love me since she doesn't care for zoos. :) In fact, she said that Dominic asked her if she was going to just drop me off. LOL.
But, as payback for making her go to a zoo, she's going to make me eat brussel sprouts. I've never in my life ever eaten a brussel sprout so I don't know if that's a bad thing or not.dibsy was apparently quite amused that I'd never tried them. Heck, I didn't think I'd ever even seen one live and in person until hellbob reminded me that chebutykin cooked them once when she was living here.

Hee hee.hellbob and I have set a date to go visit Chicago. We will be leaving Minneapolis as soon as I get out of work on Friday, March 9th and getting to Chicago sometime late that night. We will then spend 3 1/2 glorious days doing Stuff.
No, we don't know what kind of stuff yet, other than the Blue Man Group. And then we'll be heading back home on Tuesday afternoon.
Are any of the rest of you out there on my flist in the Chicago area?
