Besides all the pretty stuff I got from Amazon, I also how have plans for

Attack of the Nibleys 3: The HellHouse Invades!

Hee hee. [livejournal.com profile] hellbob and I have set a date to go visit Chicago. We will be leaving Minneapolis as soon as I get out of work on Friday, March 9th and getting to Chicago sometime late that night. We will then spend 3 1/2 glorious days doing Stuff.
No, we don't know what kind of stuff yet, other than the Blue Man Group. And then we'll be heading back home on Tuesday afternoon.

Are any of the rest of you out there on my flist in the Chicago area?

We are so damn excited!

On the subject of Blue Men, you really should get tickets in advance. Let me know if you want me to get them for you. (I don't think we'll go with you as we've both seen it several times, but you should definitely go.)

We can also meet up with any of your LJ peeps in the area.

I'm not even sure if I have any other Chicago peeps. But all we need are Nibleys, right?

Zoo? Hellbob won't want to go, but I think I need to cuz I like zoos.

Blue Man is dark on Mondays so we'll have to do that either Saturday or Sunday. Is there anything phenomenally cool going on in Chicago the weekend we are there (other than the phenomenalness of us, of course!). Is there any particular Blue Man show time that is better for us to abandon you than another?

Just us? Are you sure you won't get bored?

Brookfield or Lincoln Park? I think Brookfield may be bigger, but LPZ is close, and could prob'ly score some kind of behind the scenes tour.

I'll try to find out--most stuff happens in the summer, though. Either Saturday or Sunday is ok. How about a matinee? That way we can spend the evening together.

Oooo, Blue Man Group is way cool. We saw them in Las Vegas. Excellent show. They had a big bucket of earplugs outside the show, if they have them TAKE THEM. It's very very loud.

Of course you couldn't do this between Feb 9-18, then I could tag along and do the Chicago Auto Show. (GRIN)

We were in Chicago... no one ever comes to Iowa :(

You should definitely go to the Lincoln Park Zoo while you are there. And BMG at the Briar Street Theater will be fun. Too bad you won't be in town for St Patrick's though, you could watch the parade and see the river dyed green.

Chicago has lots of really big atractions, but it's the little ones that stand out in my memory of our last visit there.

Make sure you stop at a downtown bakery for breakfast.

If you like art and are short on time, the little galleries downtown can show you art in much more manageable bites than the big museums can.

If you have the time to spare, take a bus somewhere and sit up front so you can chat with the driver. They are interesting and friendly guys who can give you a whole different perspective on their city. Buses not not the most efficient method of transportation, however.

If you don't have much time, take a cab rather than driving yourself. Compared to cabs in the Twin Cities, Chicago cabs are fast, cheap, safe and clean. A cab can get you where you need to go with much less aggravation than you'd experience driving yourself.

When you go to Blue Man, show up plenty early and check out the interior decorations in the lobby. Don't be afraid to talk to the tubes. Feel free to tell them all about Moose, they'll like that.
