hellbob and I are going to Chicago for a weekend next month! :)
We've got tickets for a live taping of This American Life on April 19th, and so we'll be going out to spend the whole weekend.
It feels so utterly decadent though. Instead of driving to Chicago we are going to fly!
Southwest airlines just started doing Mpls-Chicago flights, and so it's only $100 each round trip. It's going to cost a little bit more than gas would have, but it's going to cut out over 10 hours of travel time, allow us to get a full night's sleep on Sunday, and I won't have to miss any work to drive there or back.
And there are Nibley's in Chicago!

Yeah, fucking NWA! The same thing happened when Sun Country was briefly out of business a few years ago. As soon as there were no Sun Country flights NWA prices went up by about 7x. Then when Sun Country came back, prices dropped.

Had a friend who had to go to Chicago for a weekend and they drove because the flight would have been $300 each and taken 7 hours because it had a layover in New Freaking Jersey!
