My new camera came today!!
Also, my pink mystery flowers bloomed today.
So I took a picture of them.
[livejournal.com profile] stoney321, oh Master Gardener Goddess that you are... What is this??
It's a thick straight stalk with several flowers all clustered on top.

The pictures are kinda dark because it was getting dark when I took them.

The maximum zoom on my Canon G3 Point & Shoot:

The maximum zoom on my new Canon Rebel XT using my 70-300mm lens (blurry because of slow shutter speed though...)

Well, mine have just come up, too. Those are an old fashioned and hard to come by bulb: surprise lily. Also known as Spider lily. they are HARD TO FIND. I love them.

Yay! You are the Gardening Goddess. (And provider of kick-ass music! I love The Pleasure Principal

The little old lady we bought our house from didn't know what they were & also said that she hadn't planted them, they just appeared one year.

If I were to cut one of those stalks to put the flowers in a vase, would that affect the plant, or would it come back next year just fine?

Yes, you can cut them - the LEAVES are what make the food, and they'll show up soon.

Cut the stems at a 45 degree angle low to the ground, add a splash of sprite or 7up to the water, and they'll last longer.
