My cousin put out a call for help for one of my local schools:

They are trying to get postcards from as many of the 50 states and countries around the world as they can. If you could send a post card I know they would be thrilled!

Here is the address:
Students of Robbinsdale M.S.
C/O IBMYP
3730 Toledo Ave N.
Robbinsdale MN 55422
USA

I'm trying to think of all the countries y'all are in.
[livejournal.com profile] felisblanco or [livejournal.com profile] verav, it would be really awesome if one of you could send them an Iceland one.
[livejournal.com profile] dakegra, got a spare England postcard lying around?
[livejournal.com profile] ltlpengy, I think you're the only Australian I've got wandering around in here. Note to self, acquire more Australians & Brits, cuz their accents are awesome!
[livejournal.com profile] 30toseoul, I'd totally be hitting you up for one if your Post Office wasn't going to be closed for another 6 months! I love all my LJ peeps, but you definitely have the coolest address (no pun intended)

They're also looking for different states too, so really, any of you minions can feel free to send one. Except you [livejournal.com profile] chebutykin. The qualification is that they are from outside of Robbinsdale!

So I was looking at the postcard collection, wondering how many of the darn things I have. After all, the collection started back when I was a kid and dad would go to either Washington DC or Atlanta for training for work. That's more than a couple of years ago...

They are currently in a shoe box and I really didn't want to count them all, so I just counted out 100 of them.

100 postcards took up an inch & a half.
I have 14 1/2 inches of postcards.

My mad math skillz tell me that I have somewhere between 900 and 1000 postcards.

I know I have all the continents, but I'm not entirely sure if I have all the states yet... I should probably do some kind of inventory list of where I have them from... Sounds like an Excel spreadsheet kind of project. Then I could also flag if they were used or unused. Not that it is important to anyone but me, I just like having inventories.

*edit* Ok you smart-asses. It now says 'between 900 and 1000'

A postcard was dropped in the mail for me yesterday. When this card arrives I will have at least one postcard from every continent in my collection! Yes, boys and girls, a postcard from McMurdo Station in Antarctica was just posted to me. Yay!!!

Thank you, Andre!

I've gotten 11 postcards so far from Postcrossing, which is weird, since I've only sent 10...

In the order I've received them, I've gotten cards from:
Great Britain (near Sherwood Forest)
Belgium
Moscow, Russia
Brno, Czech Republic
Innsbruck, Austria
Rheinfelden, Germany
Ludwigshaten, Germany
Hameenlinna, Finland
Kempen, Germany
Turku, Finland
Krefeld, Germany

I've also received two postcards back from people I sent them too.
I got one from Curitiba, Brazil and one from Oulu, Finland.

I sent out 3 postcards through Postcrossing and as of yesterday, the third one arrived at it's destination. The three places I sent them were France, Australia, and Brazil. I just received my first one in the mail today; a cool postcard of Sherwood Forest from a gal in England.

The maps are where I've got postcards from in my collection rather than where I've been...
