It's all reruns tonight! Grr. I missed last weeks CSI so I was really looking forward to getting to see it tonight. Rerun. Dammit!

I was watching Alan Alda's Scientific American Frontiers and they had a thing where they had a scenario set up with a model train and little people and one of them was supposed to represent Alan. So what did they use? Oh yeah! M*A*S*H Hawkeye Pierce action figure! If I'd been drinking I would have snarfed all over Chiana's keyboard.

Teacher really really liked my serif G project last night! Yay! During critique it a lot of peoples favorites and no one had anything bad to say about it!

-9 degrees this morning. Brrr.

Can anyone who is smarter than me about such things (this would be you, [livejournal.com profile] minervacat) tell me if it is possible to download an mp3 from the web if when you go to it it starts playing rather than being just a file. Also, I'm on a mac, so no windows people are allowed to say "just right click".

Memorial Blood Center has DVD players now and will have internet connections soon to keep you entertained while donating platelets. The people who use the internet at home for cybersex will have a definite advantage though, because they have more practice typing one handed.

You must go to this article from today's STrib: Yup, that's a monkey riding a dog. So cool! And I stole the link from [livejournal.com profile] notmonochrome. Hey, manda, here is my contribution to the monkey cowboy icon collection:

I think I need to go see the ice palace. But it is COLD! And I am busy. But I should find time to try anyway.

I had the ame downloading an MP3 dilemma. Then I remembered that eveery file you open on the internet gets saved to a temp directory. (at least in IE on a PC it does!) then you just go to the directory and copy it to where you want it.

OK. Temporary solution = use IE

So, mac people, does Safari do anything similar?

Control-click serves the same function on a Mac as right-click on a PC. So you should be able to control-click the link and select "download link to disk."

Would the "download link to disk" option actually save the mp3, or would it just save the web address and then I'd have to be connected to the internet and hope the link is still good to be able to listen to it?

I'm pretty sure it saves the actual file, and not the link.

The point being that you weren't expecting an answer before YOU went to sleep, so why not just email me or put a post-it on the bathroom mirror or something so I can answer you in the morning?

It should save the file itself unless it's coded to access a server applet, then you'd get the link and not the file. If you access the properties of the link (HOWEVER that's done sans right button) and it ends in .MP3 or some similar, you'll get the file; if it ends in anything else (.ASP, etc) it's a link. There's programs to capture the stream, but I don't know that much about it.

I can see why you wouldn't ask your husband about these things first. It's only what I do for a living...
