It was beautiful today so I packed up the Giant Lens of Doooooom and headed out to my guaranteed green heron spot. It did not disappoint. There were at least three of them at the pond today.

Isn't he just a handsome dude?

'Allo 'allo! We're paired up for [livejournal.com profile] kylecassidy's Art Colaboration Of Awesomeness, so I figured I'd drob by and say hi.

So hi! Let's talk art!

"Drob"? Self, sometimes you make no sense.

That was meant to be "drop," of course. Long day at work + not nearly enough tea = creative typos!

Oooh. Pretty Ianto. :)

Hi there! I left a nice long rambling introduction comment over on your latest LJ post.
Yes, art! What shall we do? I'm mostly a photographer, not much of a writer, and do other assorted crafts such as knitting and quilting.

Epic comment is epic.

He is rather nice to look at, isn't he?

My turn for introductions! My name's Alina. I'm a newly minted university grad (and congrats on your own graduation!) with a BA in the exceptionally employable fields of literature and theatre. I'm in NC (school in Asheville, currently just outside Chapel Hill) but on the move in the next year or so for theatre jobs. Theatre-wise I'm a costumer, though I prefer construction and management to design. I also knit and generally play around with fabric related things. I do write occasionally, but haven't in quite a while, though I read like a crazy person and am a closet librarian. Kids and young adult literature makes me a happy person.

Soooo, crafty bits! Lately I've been making a variety of little creatures-- sock monsters, mostly knitted aliens, that sort of thing. Here's a (vague, half formed) thought. What about a story in photographs? We come up with basic story frame, I make monsters/creatures/things for the story telling and send them to you, and you photograph them? Am totally open to other ideas as well.

Well, he's no Captain Jack, or Captain John, but he is still pretty. ;) The first online fandom I really got into was Buffy and then Angel. I ♥ Spike and James Marsters. But I'm also a big Who/Torchwood fan and I am very sad that David Tennant is leaving. :(

Yay for college graduates! Congrats to you too. :)

The knit creatures story sounds fabulous! Do you want to do it as more of a kids story? Or dark & spooky & grown up, kind of like Coraline?
Also, I must warn you, this little guy will show up in the pictures somewhere. I can't control him!

He's kind of a camera whore...

My first fandom was Tolkien (and yes, everything you just assumed about 15-year-old me discovering fandom in general and LotR fandom specifically was probably true) but I've branched out drastically since then to include just about anything with pretty! that catches my attention. And of course, that includes the fabulousness that is Buffy

It was actually your shots of Moose that got me thinking along these lines. At the moment, I've got a vaguely kids-story-really-meant-for-adults in my head. A Care and Feeding of Household Monsters sort of thing. Maybe a Sock Monster who live behind the dryer and collects coins and other shiny bits that fall from pockets (he's a peaceful chap. It's not his fault if lost socks flock to him)? Or a Food Monster who (needs a better name and) lives in the back of the pantry and is responsible for the crumbly bits at the bottom of chip bags because he can't resist jumping on them. And a Craft Monster (again with the naming!) who collects sequins and googly eyes and pom poms, and is singlehandedly the reason you can never find a matched pair of ANYTHING in the craft drawer. And his sister, the Yarn Monster, who nibbles on the unattended stash so that the remaining balls of yarn are just barely too short for their intended project.
