Lovely Sunday afternoon

It was so beautiful out today that after brunch with genevra & akdar I decided that I needed to take my gigantic lens and head out to the park. I went to the North Mississippi Regional Park.
I saw two new lifer birds!
A Yellow Warbler (Dendroica petechia)



And a Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum)



Despite all the other cool birds (and a camera shy woodchuck!) I eventually made it down to the shore right across from the heron rookery. Tons of Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias), and there were babies!

Aw man! Those are some awesome shots!! I was just looking at the Yellow Warbler in my bird book yesterday, so I recognized that one right away. How cool! I got to see quite a few new birds yesterday, but can only say that because I don't have a huge lens of doom. *sigh*

Yeah, there aren't many birds that are all yellow so the warbler was a pretty easy id. I've got the iBird Plus software on my iPhone, so I was able to confirm the id while I was still at the park. :)

Meh. It was ok. I got let go early and then turned in most of my gear. Doesn't really feel like it's over because I've kind of been feeling like it was mostly over for a few months now. Feels pretty good to be normal civilian again though!

Totally forgot to pick up my photos on Friday, so will be in on Tuesday to pick them up. Hope the 120 turned out some images...
