Fire at Universal Studios

Holy Crap! The Universal Studios back lot is on fire!

No word yet on if the fire took out the film vault.
The King Kong exhibit is gone.
Also, parts of New England Street and New York Street.
Wen the fire hit the street sets it pretty much just ran through because they aren't real buildings. This is what they look like inside:



So this scene is most likely gone...

Yup, EconoLodge on E Washington right by I90/I94 for the next, um, 10 minutes! Then it is sushi for lunch and we hit the road back to Mpls!
I was bummed that Sunspot wasn't playing anywhere in town on Friday though since they rarely make it to Mpls. :(

It'll be rebuilt by fall. According to a coworker who also works at Universal, it took out three city blocks or so. NY street, the courthouse square, and New England street. Easily rebuilt. No more King Kong, though; I'm not sure how I feel about that.
