¡It's homework time again!

The writing assignment was:
Ensayo Escrito (title = Este fin de semana)
Write a paragraph, in Spanish, of at least six complete sentences about
what you are going to do this weekend (Este fin de semana). Please use
a construction with ‘ir’ + ‘a’ at least three times. In addition, please
be sure to utilize the following verbs at least once: ‘tener que’ and
‘querer’.

This is what I've got. If you can understand Spanish and see any huge mistakes can ya let me know? ¡Gracias!

Voy a desayunar con mis amigos en Uptown Diner el sábado. Después del desayuno vamos al cementerio. Voy a tomar fotografías de las lápidas. Quiero ver películas con mi esposo el domingo. Mis películas favoritas son las de ciencia ficción y de comedia.Tengo que estudiar español este fin de semana también.

ok, changed one sentence. Hopefully I've got everything else right. :)

Well my Spanish is very rusty, so I'm just going to ask and you can decide if you were right in the first place.

Doesn't the adjecive come last in the romance languages: mis peliculas favoritas?
And I thought you always put the "el" in front of Espanol?

I could be completely wrong.. after all my Spanish is from a high school in Fridley 25 years ago. But those things struck me when I read your paragraph.

Sounds like a great weekend!

No, you wouldn't put "el" in front of Espanol all the time (shoot - this keyboard isn't allowing me to code for tilde). But yes, the adjective typically comes after the noun in Spanish (there are exceptions, but not generally seen in first semester Spanish).

I would probably also rewrite that sentence: Mis películas favoritas son las de ciencia ficción y las de comedia.

or

Mis películas favoritas son las de ciencia ficción y de comedia.

But again, that may be a more advanced syntactic expression than you're working with in this class.

I change my keyboard from US to Spanish before typing my homework so to get the ñ I just have to hit the ; key. :) It also makes it easy for the upside down ! and ?, and the accents.
And yeah, adding the las de after son actually does sound right now that I see it. (I was just feeling proud of myself that I remembered to use son instead of es)

Thank you!!!

*facepalm*
d'oh! Yup, the whole adjective coming last thing is right. And it was a stupid mistake that I should have noticed... Thank you!

It wasn't a stupid mistake, it was a very common one. It's hard to overcome decades of putting words in a certain order!
