I got offered a job today! Yay!
It is only part time but it is a set schedule. I'll be working mornings M-F at West Photo running the mini-lab photo processer.
I'm hoping that I can work it out with Manpower and GM to stay with the assignment they have me on working there in the afternoons.
It's a nice change to have too many jobs though!

Date: 2007-09-07 06:04 am (UTC)I used to run mini-labs for Ritz Camera back in the day. Technology has advanced so much since then but it can be kind of a fun job. Especially if you have to do any of the manual corrections and whatnot. Most of it is so automated and you're basically babysitting it and making sure the paper doesn't jam and the chemicals stay within limits and mixed well.
Have fun with the new job...and congrats! Maybe you can parlay the job into doing some Photoshop/retouching work, if they offer that at that store.

Date: 2007-09-07 06:35 am (UTC)Me too! :)
I actually worked in a photo lab for about 2.5 years, and was asst mgr for the last year. It was also a portrait studio too. I LOATHED shooting portraits and supervising high school aged employees drove me crazy. The printing photos was definitely my favorite part!

Date: 2007-09-07 02:45 pm (UTC)And I was lucky, for the most part, because I had great employees. I inherited a couple of non-starters from previous managers, but they usually ended up weeding themselves out anyway, to be replaced by my own hires. But I do understand the frustration of trying to manage kids that age. It's like nailing jello to a tree!
The thing I hated the most...doing maintenance on the machines! The bi-weekly scrubbing of rollers and that stuff. I just hated it! At least being an AM only employee, you'll probably escape most of that. Well, as long as the slacker high schooler who worked the night before didn't manage to put stop bath chemicals in the developer tank!
