Hey, that guy looks familiar!
Jul. 25th, 2007 11:25 pmSo, I'm going through all my photos looking for pics of
hellbob's family to put in the digital picture frame we got his grandma for her birthday and I hit the batch from when we went up to ValleyCon.
I've got a picture of Hellbob from when he was up on stage as a contestant in their trivia contest, and look at one of the other guys he was competing against.
"Hey, he looks kinds like
mattmn!"
So I checked Mattmn's LJ from back at that date and sure enough, he was up there. I don't think I actually met Matt until at least 2 or 3 years after that weekend. Cool. Small world.

wowzers.
Date: 2007-07-26 02:19 pm (UTC)I've only been to two valleycons. Although I still remember the final question because the outcome pissed me off - it was who created Space 1999? One person buzzed in and said "Gerry Anderson" for the win.
I pointed out that it was actually co-created by "Gerry and Sylvia Anderson." I had the more correct and complete answer but the other person (may have been Hellbob) buzzed in first. Sylvia doesn't get any love. Ce la vie.

Date: 2007-07-26 06:18 pm (UTC)Well, if it was for the win it wouldn't have been Hellbob because he took second place.
Now, if you were to tell me that you were at the same table as Virginia Hey for the banquet this would really be all kinds of weird, cuz that's where we were for dinner...
I've been to more than two valleycons, but other than this one they were all while I lived in Fargo and first worked at a comic book store and later was part owner of one. I just don't remember them ever having any guests that were worth it though.
I don't know if you went to the Cthulhu Coffee link up in my comment to vorrant ( http://www.cthulhucoffee.com/reports/valleycon2002.htm ) but one of the pictures can be found there in the convention report that hellbob & I wrote. It had been over 4 years since we'd moved away from Fargo at that point but my own personal Drooling Fan Boy still found me. *shudder*
Seeing the ValleyCon pics also reminded me that I just don't use my Virginia Hey/Moose icon nearly enough! :)
