Help! My computer has stopped connecting to the wireless.
I've had my laptop for 3 1/2 years now and just a few days ago the airport connection started going up and down. I thought the airport card might be loose so I pulled it out and put it back in. After that the computer wouldn't even see the card. I bought a new one today and the computer does see it, but when I can get the computer to see the wireless network the connection lasts for less than a minute.
I think I've tried everything on this post that will work for my system ( http://www.index-site.com/WIFI1048.html )
The router is a Linksys. My husband hasn't had any network problems with his Windows laptop or either of his Windows desktops.
The internet works fine for me when I use an ethernet cable, but I am going insane without wireless.
Any ideas on what causes this or what else I could try?

Date: 2007-06-05 02:17 am (UTC)also, take her to a coffee shop, and see if you have the same problem there. if you can connect at the coffee shop, there's a problem at home somewhere, probably with the router, possibly with the router setup. if you can't connect at the coffee shop, take her to the apple store; you've likely got a problem with where the card connects to the computer, and they'll have to fix your hardware.
now i feel all smart.

I can either send it in to have all the guts replaced for $350, or I can invest $50-75 for an external wireless card for the PCI slot. Guess which option I'm going with? For as much as I have used my laptop over the years I've really had very few problems with her. But she is 3 1/2 years old so I'm not feeling like spending $350.
It was really cool seeing you too, and how darn cute were those babies? :)
Have you seen Sharon's post yet? There's a picture of us in it...

Date: 2007-06-06 01:30 pm (UTC)I didn't know she was up there until I saw the picture!
*pout* Yes! She should have invited us! I'm guessing that they passed her while taking the chicks back in and invited her since she didn't get up there beforehand.
And hey, I tried to get up on the roof! Meeting Jacki (the zoo chick) once before just wasn't enough of an "in" though. :) I was happy that she said I looked familiar from somewhere though because when I met her at the member thing I went to at the zoo it was over a year ago.
I've got some pics in my gallery, but I haven't put up a post yet because I was falling asleep while uploading the pictures.
