I had an hour to kill between work and my platelet donation appointment so I ran over to the Wood Lake Nature Center again to see the owl. The momma owl was at the nest hanging out with her baby. Here are a couple of the pictures I got:

Cool! I am crap at identifying raptors in flight!

I saw one drop from the sky into a field, and when I drove past I saw him sitting next to another similar bird, both just kind of sitting on the ground. I'll often see them circling, but I'm generally not close enough to see anything. I can tell they're a hawk of some kind, but that's about it. Or a turkey vulture; they're easy to identify.

I should have stopped to take a picture, but I don't think it would have come out well. I don't have the zoom lens that you do! :)

Speaking of cameras, one of my friends just got a new camera and she wants a Canon Rebel one of these days. She takes good pics too. Lots of ocean and zoo shots.
