Battlestar Galactica annoyance

While I love BSG, there is one thing that annoys me every time I watch it:
The paper.
Why are the corners cut off every piece of paper? There is no good reason for it. It would add extra steps to production.

Apparently, it started out as a joke. Then they took it a few steps further.

Some poor intern must go nuts having to do all the cutting. ;)

Nope. Not good enough. They are just a bad design idea that no self respecting culture would make the standard. Why does everyone on Gallactica have to suffer with them because some prop guy thought it was funny?
