Considering how narrow a brightness range the digital medium has, this shot isn't too bad in the level of detail that can be seen in the rough wax surface surounding the flame.
It would be interesting to see if you could adjust the light sensitivity to get more texture detail from the wax without losing the subtle shades of blue, red, orange and yellow around the wick.
How different would the flame look if the wick were prefectly vertical instead of bent? Would it enhance or repress the colors of the flame?
Darn. I don't think we have any matches to play with here.
