WTF?!?

Driving in to work today, I turned the corner from one city street onto another headed for the highway, and the traffic was stopped on both sides. I could sort of see flapping wings & my first thought was "f**king Canada Geese. Just run them over." Then I got closer. It wasn't geese.
It was 3 wild turkeys!
I've never seen wild turkeys just hanging out on the road, especially not in the suburbs. It was cool! Unfortunately since I didn't want to be late for work I didn't have time to pull over to take pictures. Dammit! This is why I carry the camera with me at all times and I couldn't even take advantage of it!

Years ago, my family and i were on vacation in the Black Hills. My mom saw a turkey family in the road. She wasn't able to stop or swerve and she ran over the turkey babies trailing behind... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH...the horror!!! Have not seen wild turkeys since then.

Oh my god! I do that too. Well, I haven't for a few months because it just gets to bulky to carry all my camera crap around. I have a Canon Digital Rebel and an extra Tamron lens. And if I'm going to carry it around I have to have it with me at all times. I'm too paranoid to leave it in the car. Are you a bird watcher too?

Oooh, camera envy! I've got a Canon Rebel for my "real" camera that usually has B&W in it, and a Canon G3 for my digital.
You need to help me convince Hellbob that a Digital Rebel isn't a luxury, it's a neccessity!!!
I'm not a bird watcher, in that I don't go hunt them down, but if I see them I watch them. :)

That digital rebel was the best purchase I ever made. I LOVE it. It might cost a lot in the inital purchase, but think of all the money you save on film and processing. With a digital, you can take multiple photos and not be wasting film, not wonder if you got the shot you wanted, really play with timing and aperture and see how the changes look as you take them, put on different lenses... the list goes on and on.

The problem isn't convincing him that digital is cool...I've had the G3 for either 2 or 3 years now. The problem is convincing him that I need another better digital!
When I do finally get a digital SLR it will definitely be Canon because of the lens compatability with the stuff I already have.

Cool that you saw turkeys. Bad that it snarled traffic so bad! :) Poor little guys were probably scared. The only time I have dealt with birds in the road was a gigantic white goose that didn't want to back down from mom's station wagon! Stupid bird. Flapping its wings at me, honking, and standing in the middle of the road. I just sat and looked at it, and I think it eventually got bored and walked away.

I saw one under Carlson Parkway on 394 a while back. Just sitting there, on the median between the highway and the exit/service road. Bizarro.
