Sep. 25th, 2005 09:38 pmY'all haven't heard much from me lately, other than all the family housing disasters.
When
bombalurina did a zoo post I realized that I had never even uploaded my pics from the last zoo trip to the server, mostly because that was the downtime for the hard drive replacement.
Ya know, it wouldn't take me so darn long to get them uploaded if the taxonomy geek in me didn't insist on having the scientific name for everything!
We'll start with my favorite subjects at the zoo, the tiger cubs.
Here is Lana:

Amur (Siberian) Tiger Panthera tigris altaica
and Nika:

OK, so I lied about the hot monkey sex (and if you clicked for that, you are a pervert! but I love you anyway...)
Blame
stoney321. She is the master of LJ cuts that you know aren't true, but you have to click on them anyway.
So anyhow... More pictures and as always, to see more go to My online gallery. (there's no monkey sex there either...)
puppy!

Mexican Gray Wolf, male
Canis lupus baileyi
butterfly:

Julia Heliconian
Dryas julia
caterpillar:

Queen catapillar
Danaus gilippus
teeny tiny primates:

Cotton-top tamarin
Saguinus oedipus
and bigger primates:

Ring-Tailed Lemur
Lemur catta
And some birds:

African Crowned Crane
Balearica pavonina

Red-tailed Hawk, pigment mutation
Buteo jamaicensis

Bald Eagle
Haliaeetus leucocephalus

(You were looking for the hot monkey sex, weren't you? C'mon, you can admit it. I won't tell anyone...)

I love my baby tiger girls! The day I took those pics I saw Ross, the zookeeper for the tigers, so I was able to confirm with him that I have their names right. I can tell them apart by looking at their faces, but I wanted to make sure I had the right name with the right face. I did! Cuz, like, everyone can tell their zoo's tigers apart by just looking at them, right?
I can't buy the calendars that have tigers on them because I'll flip through the 12 months and be like "Hey, there's only 4 different tigers in here!"
