He was sitting on the patio at work, and when he let us get about a yard away I said "Don't scare him, I'm going to get my camera"
Eventually I was close enough that this was taken w/the macro setting. In the original huge file you can even see my reflection in his eye!!
After taking pics I tried to pick him up to see if he was injured and he flew off, bounced off the window (probably for the second time) and continued flying up into the tree.
Ted, you identified the last one, what kind of bird is this??

That's what i thought too, but then I remembered that bluebirds have white or light red tummies. Also I don't think they are such a metallic blue. In color theory (i'm at work without my wonderful lj client so I am not even going to try to do the fancy link thing)it was suggested that it could be an indigo bunting or blue grosbeak.

Specifically this is a Mountain Bluebird (blue chest vs. redish), which does occur here infrequently.

All in all, one of the prettiest birds!

Mountain Bluebirds are all over Colorado... Blue all over. Can't miss `em.
