So I uploaded a bunch more Queen Mary pics of James a couple days ago and forgot to let y'all know... D'oh!

Anyhow, they are here: http://www.dreamflyte.com/gallery/MarstersSaturdayQM

I have finished the Q & A pics with James in the white shirt and have started on the Harsh Light Of Day commentary pics where James is on Saturday's outfit #4 - a dark button-down shirt.

Remember, no hot-linking to the pics, and no posting elsewhere without permission, although posting a link is fine. :)

What can I say? I've been busy. I got about 100 (ok, maybe 10 or so) new LJ friends after the convention, I was a week behind on my classes, and I'm STILL working on trying to get all the pictures ready!

Underneath this cut you will find a sort of longish account of Friday night at the James Marsters & Friends convention on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.  )

and if you are looking for a few hundred pictures of the handsome Mr. Marsters, they can be found HERE

I finally scanned the pictures of me with James at the Queen Mary event:

hellziggy: (Default)
I've put about 50 pics up. They are me in my fancy dress, the reception on Friday, my lovely dinner companions, and James both at dinner and in concert. (And there is a Moose in some of them too!) I have oodles more to do, but since I actually have to go to work tomorrow for the first time in a week & a half I should probably go to bed!

All the pictures of just James should have a copyright notice on them. Please don't repost these pics anywhere without asking me first, and if I say yes, do not post them with the copyright info removed. Giving people the link is ok, but it would be cool to let me know just so I know where folks are wandering in from!

This picture posted below shows just how BLUE James' eyes are! I didn't enhance the blue at all, I just desaturated the rest of it.

One more pic!

I didn't put this one with the rest because there was a woman standing right behind Moose and Moose objected to this. So I couldn't post the pic until we did a little photoshop magic!

This was the second time Moose got to meet James. :)
He said he remembered Moose from the pictures in Toronto! This makes Moose happy.

OK. Under the cut are pictures of James from this weekend. This is just a sampling. None of them are final versions, I just wanted to get something up. After I'm home and can offload them to my external drive I'll get them ready for posting. So please, don't repost these anywhere although you can feel free to send people here via links.

Warning! Extreme hotness under here!! )

James was soooo happy & healthy looking and full of energy this weekend. It was a fabulous time!

Crap.
I'm at skip=300 before I hit my "I'm here" post.
That's a lot of reading to catch up on.
I also have to edit my pictures to get them up.
Also have to write about the con before forgetting things.
And I have to explore California/LA for the next three days.
How many hours are there in a day again????
hellziggy: (Default)
I'm very tired. Less than 4 hours sleep last night.

Fabulous day though! But too tired to type!
hellziggy: (Default)
I think I remembered to pack everything...

I have Moose, I have laptop, I have camera, I have tickets, I have dress, makeup, shoes, I have gum, I have iPod, I have headphones.

Urg. I hate this part because there is always one thing you forgot...

But, off to bed with me for a little bit of sleep before we're California bound.

Here it is, the dress for Friday night in LA and for Darek & Nissa's wedding when we get back.

hellziggy: (Default)
It's technically Monday now! I work on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday I get on an airplane w/[livejournal.com profile] hellbob to go to Los Angeles. Friday night I will be in the presence of my obsession, James Marsters! Yay!

I went shopping today with non-LJ Jeanine, [livejournal.com profile] camel0t, and [livejournal.com profile] genevra. We hit the stores at Mall of America with a mission: Find [livejournal.com profile] hellziggy a dress she looks hawt in. We succeeded!
We actually succeeded too well at first. There was a beautiful dress at Nordstrom's that was PERFECT on me. Unfortunately one should never try on a dress before looking at the price tag because $388 was not so perfect. *sigh* Even with no sales tax on clothes I couldn't justify spending that much on one dress that will rarely be worn.

But we did find a different dress at Macy's that was a very good second choice. I put it on to show it off to [livejournal.com profile] hellbob & Ty before dinner and a picture was taken so I will post that shortly. The dress will also be perfect to wear to Darek & Nissa's wedding the Saturday after we get back.

But, now I must stop spamming and get myself to bed so I can make it to the zoo tomorrow for a giraffe feeding, and then to the mall with Jeanine to pick up some makeup seeing as how I'll be dressed like a girl on Friday!

The current guest list is:
James Marsters
Tony Todd
Kevin Sorbo

Jane Espenson
Steve DeKnight

Another guest has been added to the lineup for the James Marsters and Friends event!!!! That's getting to be one crowded boat. :)

MERCEDES MCNAB
Mercedes is best known for playing Harmony, the long-suffering girlfriend of Spike on the hit television series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
She spent five years on the set morphing from teen queen to vampire and reprised the role on the WB's Angel becoming everyone's favorite undead personal assistant.
Mercedes began her acting career at the tender age of ten after having moved to Los Angeles from Vancouver at the age of nine with her parents. It wasn't long until success greeted this young actress with her first role in the feature film The Addams Family which then led to a role in the sequel Addams Family Values. She also starred in Concorde Pictures Lost in the Wilderness.
On the small screen, Mercedes has appeared on the WB's Dawson's Creek, Fox's Boston Public, Touched By An Angel, Walker, Texas Ranger, and the USA Network telefilm Beer Money as the lead protagonist Echo. She's been busy this year filming horror movie Hatchet and comedy short Miles From Home.
Mercedes enjoys dancing, amusement parks, shopping, bowling and basketball and currently splits her time between New York and Los Angeles. Her father, Bob MacNab, was also a star soccer player for the very successful British

I will remember to leave at 3:30 today. I will!!!

Today's wildlife sighting: 3 (possibly 4) deer. And I got me some good pictures I think. I don't have my Compact Flash reader here at work though so I can't move the pics to my laptop. Silly Sharon!

Holy Cow did it rain last night! [livejournal.com profile] hellbob mentioned something about building an arc but I reminded him that we live on top of a hill. We did not float away.

I caught up on Veronica Mars. I had to resort to tivoing the Sunday episode so that I can catch House also. When Logan does his puppy eye thing? *whimper* Of course he's way too damn young for me!!

I'm still behind on my Smallville watching. I just watched "Mercy" last night which was the Lionel/Martha episode and it was really good. The next one up has lots of Fine/Brainiac though I think!!!!!!!!

In theory I will also have some more flower pictures and some more bird pictures up in the gallery tonight. And, of course, deer!

I stopped at the bird pond again yesterday. Saw the green heron again. Also a Wood Duck, a Mallard, and I chased an egret around the pond. Maybe I'll try to actually stop there sometime when it's NOT raining so that I can just sit down and wait to see what comes. :)

Thank the gods this is a short day - only 8 hours - because I'm ready to leave NOW!!

California

It's official. [livejournal.com profile] hellbob and I are finally getting back to California to visit [livejournal.com profile] scubagrrl and Mr. Scubagrrl again!

Our last trip to LA was four years ago! And the trip to Washington State was two years ago. Now that we're at a point in our lives where vacations are not just pipe dreams I start to get antsy when it's been over a year since a trip.

We are going to fly out there on Thurs, September 7th and fly home on Thurs, September 14th. We don't have to pay for plane tickets because we are exchanging timeshare points for the tickets, and we don't have to pay for hotel because we are staying with scubagrrl.

[livejournal.com profile] hellbob may not believe it, but I was planning that we should go out there this fall anyway. So, when www.jamesmarsters.com announced that his only convention this year would be in LA in September I figured that was perfect timing.

Unfortunately they didn't announce any further info until the time the tickets went on sale. We didn't know date, place, price, anything until then. I was expecting about $150 for gold tickets and $500 for premium. That's about what the Toronto tickets were in US$.

So I logged on when the ticket info went up.

Sept. 8-10th? Perfect! I already had from the 7th through the 17th off work.

On the Queen Mary? Cool! What a neat venue.

One of the other guests? Jane Espenson. Cool! She's written for a ton of shows I love and I've heard she's a fabulous con speaker.

Ticket cost? $300 for gold. What? Wow. ok. I've decided I'm going. That's spendy but if it's like Toronto it'll be worth it. Besides, I haven't done any concerts lately besides INXS. So I peeked at the premium expecting to see $750 plus for the price. They were $500. And limited to only 100 tickets. They included a formal reception w/dinner, drinks, acoustic concert.

I waffled a bit, but I just couldn't pass it up. Not when the price between the two was so close. It seems silly because $500 is the same either way, but I wouldn't have been willing to upgrade to that if the regular tickets were in the $100-200 range. Apparently other people felt the same way because the premium tickets were sold out within an hour. If we had to pay for plane tickets to get there I would have considered not even doing the $300 ticket and skipping the convention altogether (but I would have been bummed.)

I was going to be a lazy bum on Friday and relax because it's a holiday here at work, but now I'm going to come in to work instead. I'll get my holiday pay, but I'll also get paid time and a half for any hours I work. So every hour I work will be like 2.5 on the paycheck. Depending on how my week goes I may come in Saturday morning too for a few hours. It sucks putting in extra hours, but I want to at least make up the difference in the two ticket prices as well as then cover as much of the rest of the ticket as I can.

So, in September, WE'RE GOING TO CALIFORNIA!!! YAY! I just loved it there last time we went, even though I don't think I could live there. And the weekend we're there, I GET TO SEE JAMES AGAIN! Two concerts, two dinners (one is formal) and lots of other stuff. Not gonna get too excited yet though because it's still five months away.

This weekend flew by...
Yesterday was the bridal shower for Dawn. We ended up spending a good portion of the day over there, but I bailed on going out for drinks. Maybe if I'd had my own car I would have gone for one or two, but I didn't so I would have had to make whoever drove take me home or call Rick to come and get me.

It was nice though. We got to see Dawn & [livejournal.com profile] genevra's high school friend Leigh who I hadn't seen in about 9 years. It was like a really weird flashback though because the basement at Dawn's hasn't changed much since the high school days of hanging out there.

Heck, that basement is the very first place I ever got drunk way back in June of '88. I believe I am the only person Mom & Dad Johnson ever let drink there who was under 18, and that was only after I got my parent's permission and I promised that I would not leave the house even if someone else was driving. I was about a month shy of 18 at that point.

Saturday night was just hanging out at home being a bum.

Today we met Mark for dinner at La Casita and I had a really yummy seafood enchilada. Then we were off to the theater to see Lucky Number Slevin.
I didn't really know anything about the movie going in except who was in it, but it was really good. Lots of fun. Some of the most f'ed up out there wallpaper you've ever seen. The story line was really confusing at the beginning, but it had all these bits that wove together so well by the end. And there were also lots of funny parts.

We'd been joined at the movie by [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm & her brother Chad. Hey Lucky, I don't know why but I expected your brother to be taller. And he didn't have the beard in that family photo you'd had at work, did he? On Saturday night when I'd been watching tv with Rick I IM'd Lucky but it turned out that it was her brother online. Strange boy. Funny though. Just don't let him near your pet rabbits. :)

I am on vacation this fall from 4:30 pm September 6th thru 7:00 am September 18th. [livejournal.com profile] hellbob and I will be going out to Los Angeles on vacation for part of that time! Yay! A whole week leeching off of [livejournal.com profile] scubagrrl's hospitality. *grin* I have to see what's available for plane tickets from the timeshare since we can use our points to purchase tickets, but I'm thinking that we should fly out the 7th and then come back around the 14th or so. The event stuff wherein I will get to stalk James Marsters & touch him again would go from the evening of the 8th through late afternoon on the 10th. I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] scubagrrl can keep [livejournal.com profile] hellbob amused during that time.

We don't have any specific plans yet. I was thinking that it would be nice to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] anonymous_greg but when I GoogleMapped the city he lives in from Camarillo where we'll be staying I found that it's listed as a 6 hour drive. Uffda!

Also, [livejournal.com profile] scubagrrl, Oxnard is the airport it would be most convenient for you for us to fly into, right? I saw that some flights to Oxnard connect through LAX. Is it worth it to do that or at that point are we just better off flying into LAX and you pick us up there? Of course, if we rent a car the part about you picking us up is a moot point...

It was a nice lazy day today. [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm came over this afternoon (bearing a Caribou frou-frou drink for me!) and we hooked the laptop up to the tv and watched the movie Chance. Even without the obvious reason for us wanting to watch it (see pic below) this is just a darn fun movie. It's too damn bad Amber couldn't get any kind of distribution for it because I'd really like to get a legal DVD copy of it.

While we were watching the movie I knitted. One Jayne hat for the Monkeys is done and the other is partially earflapped! The picture has kinda crappy color, but I didn't feel like messing with it.

Also, while taking the picture of the hat I took the picture of Francois that I had been meaning to take. He was made by the uber-talented Janeness aka [livejournal.com profile] bleaknimue. Again, the pic has kinda crappy color.

I also rectified [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm's lack of knowledge about Rejected, and then we watched Pirates of the Carribean which I hadn't seen in too long.
hellziggy: (Default)
I'm out of work until Tuesday!
Yay!
I'm going to the Wisconsin Dells tomorrow!
Yay!
[livejournal.com profile] hellbob is going too!
Yay!
We're going to get to meet [livejournal.com profile] raven_arani & [livejournal.com profile] genpyris in real life for the first time!
Yay!
R_A has assured me that they aren't scary serial killers!
Yay!
We're also going to drive down to Madison and see [livejournal.com profile] bloodlossgirl & hopefully [livejournal.com profile] uglyzebras and [livejournal.com profile] bleaknimue!
Yay!
I'm really happy with the way my project turned out for this class!
Yay!
[livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm called right when I was leaving work and our copies of James Marsters' Words & Music arrived today!
Yay!
My Tom Bihn bag has shipped!
Yay!

I'm in a good mood right now... Can you tell?
hellziggy: (Default)
I finally just saw Amber Benson's unreleased film Chance. I was interested in this movie even without James Marsters in it, and honestly, I thought his part was much smaller than it turned out to be. But the movie was good, and there were many many good shots of him to take screenshots of.
