I struggled hard with the decision. I could have kept her alive longer but it would have meant a level of discomfort for her, extyra money for me and in addition festival started that weekend so she might die while I was gone.
It came down to quality of life. It's not a life to lie in one place miserable. Not to mention you know your cat and while they can't say when they're unhappy they can show you.
You made the best decision you could with his best interests in mind.
