What a funny man! There were so many good comics during the late 70s and early 80s. I really should look into getting some of that classic footage...

First Hicks, then Carlin.

Damn.

Every generation has its comedy heroes. Unfortunately I've not found the new Hicks/Carlin. I can only hope that he or she is lurking in the wings somewhere, honing their rants.

George Carlin was such a wordsmith. The only other comic I can think of off-hand that has (actually had) a similar knack for using language inventively to make his point is Dennis Miller. Until he got all political, anyway. No, maybe Eddie Izzard too. He has the language knack too. Maybe that's why I like him so much. It's the insightfulness combined with fantastic wordsmithing. Very clever men. But neither as clever as Carlin.

I will seriously miss George Carlin. Probably my favorite comic of all time. I always watch his specials on HBO whenever they're on.
