They did it with you awake? For my screw removal they did a sedation that wasn't as deep as anesthesia (and didn't require the whole throat tube thing) but pretty much kept me asleep through it. I remember waking up in the middle and asking a question. Something like "have you started already?" and the doctor saying yes and then I went right back to sleep. I didn't think it was going to be a big deal but then they were asking if I brought crutches and he gave me a painkiller prescription. When I filled that I thought "Oh dear gods, this is gonna hurt when the drugs wear off!" because the prescription was for Vicodin. 90 of them! Dr. W. wrote something down wrong, because I'm pretty sure the screw removal wasn't supposed to need more painkillers than the actual cut the bone, move it, screw it into place surgery! So yeah, slept through it, got lotsa drugs, put the screw on my keychain.
