hellziggySpecial delivery at the Zoo! After one and a half hours of hard labor and twelve months of pregnancy, "Rio," one of five (now six) Atlantic bottlenose dolphins at the Minnesota Zoo, gave birth to a calf on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at 7:10 a.m. Marine mammal and veterinary staff are watching mom and calf closely, and we will provide more information about this exciting birth soon. Rio and her calf are not on exhibit at this time, but can be seen from TV monitors in Discovery Bay.
