I HATE FRAKING JAVASCRIPT!!!!!

Validating forms should be one of the simple basic things for Javascript, but I feel stupid and like I'm in water about 4 feet over my head when it comes to this crap!
I've found several examples of how to validate a zip code but I can't get them to work and I can't figure out what I need to change and I FRAKING HATE THIS SHIT!!!!!
And I'm sitting here struggling with this assignment from 3 WEEKS ago because I still don't get it and it's taking time away that I could be using for my final site project.
If it wouldn't leave me one credit short for financial aid requirements I would be so dropping this class right now!
I'm at the point now where I'm about to decide that it JUST DOESN'T MATTER if I get this stupid form assignment done or not because how many points can it be worth anyway?

Start with the following form and javascript embeded in this document. Use the examples covered in class to validate the checkbox and radio button fields. Find or create regular expressions to validate the phone, email and zip code fields.

One of the best books I ever found for Javascript was "Visual Quickstart Guide to Javascript". It is very much "How do I do this?" followed by a page or two showing how to do it.

No long winded descriptions of the history of checkboxes and other useless information.

Samples can also be found on pgs 312-314 of Javascript the Definitive Guide, which is more of a reference book than the one stark0228 mentions. Also, be careful when looking up Regular Expression matching (reg ex) as most of the references are for Perl, which may have slightly different reg ex than javascript. Page 16 of the Javascript Pocket Reference has the Regular Expression table.

If you want to post the code snippet, I can look at it, but no promises. The javascript I have done is limited to printing "hello world" and updating navigation headers/bars.

So I know mhuot has done a lot of java coding. He may have also done some java script. Not sure. But you could poke and ask him to review your code/offer suggestions.

Bah! I'm just going to spend my time working on my final project because this teacher is a pretty easy grader, and this just isn't worth my frustration at the moment!

So, I'll reiterate the recommendation to go to the http://www.htmlgoodies.com/ site. Those tutorials really helped me a lot. But, I'd even more strongly recommend the http://www.w3schools.com/ site. They have the added benefit of having examples right there that you can play with and see what happens in real time.

It's been a while. I more or less gave up on programming when I hit the point where I couldn't figure out how to pass info from a javascript form embedded in a web page to a perl script. I had the javascript, I had the perl script, I just couldn't get them to talk to each other.....
