I know very little about some of the people on my friends list, while I know some of you relatively well. I read your journals; some of you update regularly and in detail and some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all, so the next time I see your name I can say, "Ah, there's so-and-so, and they love to..."

I'd love it if as many people as possible who have me friended would do this. Yes, even those of you who comment on my LJ all the time. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

The first time I completely stopped watching TV was during an election season. I was just trying to watch the evening news, and I saw the exact same four dumbass attack ads at every single commercial break. I shut the box off, and literally didn't turn it on again for more than a year and a half.

When navigating away from a web page I will usually scroll to the top of it, then click backspace or to my new page. I'm a sometime insomniac; I used to be really bad. I'm still a very light sleeper. Sometimes I swear my dog is psychic and knows when I'm awake. My favorite chocolate is dark and must never have chunks of stuff in it. Same with ice cream- smooth texture. Cookie dough and peppermint are the rare exceptions.

We live in the woods just outside Northfield and I'm thinking of putting in some fruit trees and beehives. (My brother has cherries and plums and apricots and kiwi and fig (doesn't bear, but still) and fifteen (I think) kids of berries on his eighth of an acre in Uptown, and I'm jealous.) I've been too shy to come to Birds 'n' Beers because I'm such a n00b. (On the other hand, I'd like to be able to identify the birds in our woods with my daughters...)

I used to live in Crystal too. I had a software gig in Ethiopia (sub-sub-contractor for Ethiopian Airlines) and gave up my apartment in Saint Anthony Village to save money while I was over there. When I got back from Ethiopia it took me a while to get an apartment organized, so I crashed on my brother's floor in the house he and his band-mates had next to the airport in Crystal. My now-wife was a little skeptical about dating a homeless guy...

You really should come to Birds & Beer. There are all levels of bird geek there, and the other Sharon is super nice & fun. I know she would love to have someone to talk bees with!
