I am at a conference in DC...and there are Minnesota people here. We were having drinks in the bar when this came on...and very soon we all just went to our rooms to see the news in private.

I can't believe it! How could the bridge fall? I used to drive it almost every day. I know people who drive it everyday on the commute.

OMG. CNN just ran the press conference with the governor and the mayor. Six dead; hopefully no more.

Just.... fuck. I can't get through to mom. Not that she drives it or anything, but still.This is going to affect a *lot* of people and that sucks.

Just a freak thing. The governor made sure to mention that they had been doing the scheduled inspections, and nothing structural was found. So whatever happened, it was something internal.
