And we've got more birds...

I found a really great little park. It's right by a highway, but it still feels secluded and it's got lots of cool birds. In the short time I was there I saw a Green Heron, a Great Egret, a couple hawks (that I couldn't identify), a pair of Woodducks, and some Mallards.

I'd never seen one of these before... It's a Green Heron Butorides virescens




And egrets are always cool,
Great Egret, Ardea alba

very cool! In my 28 years in Minnesota I never managed to spot a green heron. I'm jealous :)

Thanks! I'll definitely be going back to that little hidden gem of an area, but bring my tripod! The egret pics weren't real sharp because I was handholding my long lens...

I was just glad I spotted him before I walked up and spooked him! I was acutally heading toward the pond to shoot the egret!
When I was telling Rick about him before I had the pics transferred to the computer and got him identified my description was that he was like a Great Blue Heron, only not tall. So when I found out that he IS a heron I was very happy with myself!

The egret looks like a bird that we have living near us.
