Facebook wonderings

On Facebook where it tells all the new stuff your friends have done "xx joined the group xxxx", "xx and xx are now friends", etc I've noticed some "xx became a fan of xx"
I'm guessing that is a way of following someone famous who has too many friends or who won't friend you back?
Or do you end up following an entirely different profile of the same person?
Is there any reason to become a fan of someone you're already friends with?
Why can't everyone in the world just be on LJ for their online stuff to make my life easier?
Also, my new computer still needs a name. I don't even know if it's a boy or a girl!

Are you still using the Farscape model for names? Which ones have been used already? I vote for Harvey.

I hadn't decided if a new computer should be following the Farscape name conventions or not, but if it does I think Harvey would be a damn fine choice!
