Do you have super adorable or incredibly awesome Christmas pictures?

Would you like them used for public display with absolutely no compensation to you whatsoever?

Our Christmas Photo Card examples at work have to be redone because some of them on the display have the owner's daughter's ex-husband. Since I'll be doing the printing, I'll be picking the photos to use. Of course I'll be using some cute little Monkeys, and Mr. Gabriel Cranky-Pants and Miss Lump. But it would probably be good to have a variety of pictures.

Like I said, no compensation (other than my gratitude) because these are just for an in-store display to show which designs we have. Since the cards are 4x8 size, with a photo area of 4x6, the photos should be about 1800x1200 pixels.

If you have shots you'd like me to consider using, you can either give me a link to an online version with enough pixels, or email it to [username]@gmail.com.

Thank you!!!!

Happy Holidays, everyone!
Saturday was Christmas Morning at Mom & Dad's house. The Monkeys had sooooo much fun opening presents! :) I got a card shuffler (it will really speed up set up time for Killer Bunnies), Talledega Nights, and a squirrel-proof bird feeder. And also the traditional Xmas cash from Mom & Dad. After that we went to genevra & akdar's house to babysit the Monkeys so they could go to a movie.
Yesterday was the traditional Xmas Eve dinner with A, M & Z. We went to the new Chinese buffet over near El Loro. Much yummy seafood was consumed. I got a pretty calendar, and A & M found the weirdest Hulk desk fan thingy. Words can not describe so I'll post a picture later.
After lunch we hopped in the car and headed on up to Hibbing to see Hellbob's grandma. She didn't know we were coming so it was a nice surprise for her. Then we drove back home last night.
Somehow, even though Hellbob was with me the whole time, a present for me appeared under the tree...
My puppet!Angel has a new friend! I have a puppet!Spike now too!!!!!! Hee hee! Hellbob doesn't want me to make them molest each other though...
And now we'll be heading to Hellbob's Dad & Stepmom's house in an hour or so for our final Christmas.

Three more minutes and I can punch out and go home!!!!
Four days off!!!!!!
Woo hoo!!!!!
Time to go home and wrap presents and cuddle the [livejournal.com profile] hellbob.

I officially declare today's shopping trip a success! I found a gift right away for my cousin's husband (the name I drew) and everything after that was just bonus.
I have tomorrow off too. I'm thinking of going down to the zoo. I haven't been since Labor day and the weather is supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow.

The guidlines for this puppy are under here )

And now my list. I'm not even sure if I can come up with 10 things...

1. I have an Amazon wish list. It is here Mostly DVDs, some books, some miscellany

2. James Marsters. Seriously, can you just deliver him to my house here? I promise to take good care of him.

3. Two plane tickets to anywhere. I love going on vacations and [livejournal.com profile] hellbob & I really only get to travel somewhere about every two years and even then only if we can really get a bargain on airfare.

4. Postcards. I collect them, and I've got ones from all seven continents now, but I can always use more!

5. Adobe Creative Suite 2. But please, no "I've got a hacked copy I can get you." or anything like that. I've got a fully legal copy of CS1 already, I'd just like to upgrade to CS2 at some point.

6. a Wacom tablet that is larger than 4x5. My current one is an Intuos 2 4x5, and I love it, but boys? Bigger really is better.

7. And now for the really impossible wish: There is a James event in England on May 3. The tickets go on sale Saturday. No idea yet how much and it doesn't really matter. The airfare to London was out of the budget, let alone hotel & James tickets. But if someone really wanted to buy tickets for both me & [livejournal.com profile] hellbob to get to England and for me to go to the James event, I'd be eternally grateful. Also, probably dead of heart failure, but eternally grateful! Hey, i know it's unrealistic. That's why this is called a *wish* list.

8. I'd love it if all of y'all who are able would go donate blood. It's simple, fast, and will save lives.

9. Donate to your favorite charity too.

10. Oooh. And fun socks. I don't wear white socks. I don't own white socks. I'm not too fussy, just make them colorful. (and I also really don't like anklets. Crew length is good) Cute animals, stripes, polka dots, seasonal, it's all good!

Oh, and my contact info? If I have you friended, just click the hellhouse secret location tag down below to get to the post that it is in.

*edit* Someone on my flist did this wish list meme about a month ago or so and I can't remember who!! Was it you? please comment if it was.

Also, if for some reason you can't find the tag for the secret location, here is the link you get when you clicky:

Tonight was the viewing of [livejournal.com profile] 7thstranger's parents' Christmas light display.
Wow! That's a lotta lights!

In attendance we had [livejournal.com profile] 7thstranger (of course!), [livejournal.com profile] mle292 and Squeaky, [livejournal.com profile] jmanna, [livejournal.com profile] davidkingsley and [livejournal.com profile] kditzy.

One of the highlights of the display was pointing out to 7thstranger that her parents had gay snowman porn on their lawn.

My comment... they're not on a ski jump. That's Brokeback mountain.

And there was an adorable half-buried penguin that just screamed to be turned into a holiday icon for 7thstranger:

All day at work I felt out of it. I was cranky. Not snapping at people cranky. Just cranky, grumpy, mopey, not happy in my brain. I was just in a MOOD. People couldn't tell. When I made some comment about being Grumpy, G said that it seemed like I was in a cheerful mood. But my brain was feeling bleah!

But, after leaving work, I headed to Big Bowl for yummy food with [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm & J. Mmmmm. Kung Pao Chicken with Noodles. And a cute waiter who totaled our bills individually without even being asked. He also, when walking up to our table, avoided by mere seconds walking into me saying the phrase "hot boy sex" Too bad. Would have been fun to see his reaction.

After dinner we headed to the theater. We parked waaaaaay out there. [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm and J. had both brought Yulechristmakwanzakah gifts for me and [livejournal.com profile] hellbob. Which reminded me that I needed to remember to grab both their gifts when I leave the house this morning... oh, fuck. Yeah. Think that happened?

So their gifts are still sitting here wrapped up on the living room floor. The one for [livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm stopped moving a couple days ago. I wonder if [livejournal.com profile] hellbob remembered to put airholes & food in it. Oh well, nothing says Happy Holidays like a dead kitten!

It was a bunny Christmas this year! I had gotten the Stainless Steel expansion from the KalHouse, and tonight I got the Green expansion from L13C! Also, two bars of chocolate. Really really yummy chocolate with chunks of sea salt in it! We had both had this stuff for the fist time at Omegacon and it was soooooo good.

From J we got the Pop Culture edition of Trivial Pursuit! yay!

Anyhow, we headed to the theater. I had gotten cash on my way to dinner (BTW [livejournal.com profile] hellbob. How many times have we gotten to the Southdale theater and then decided we needed cash? It seems silly to pay an ATM fee when the only branch of our bank in the Cities is Across. The. Street. ). There was an insane line to buy tickets from a real person so I ended up using the bank card anyway on the auto ticket machine. I'm a senior citiizen, doncha know? LOL! They don't offer a student option on the ticket machine & senior tickets are the same price as student. I have yet to ever get asked for ID when I hand them my senior ticket.

We settled in. We watched commercials. I have to say, I'm not annoyed by commercials at the theater, as long as they are before the movie's start time. if it's a 7:30 movie and your watch has just hit 7:30, then from here on out all you should be seeing is previews.

The movie was SO FUCKING GOOD!! Jake Gyllenhal makes a darn purty cowboy. Heath Ledger, not so much. I don't want to put any movie spoilers in here so just know: Good movie!

Now, I should probably consider heading to bed...

Well, [livejournal.com profile] hellbob is off with his relatives for Xmas, and I'm home laying on the couch because I can't breath and it hurts to move. I'm just achy all over. And i'm pretty sure i just horked up a lung... This cold moved right into my chest and i'm pretty sure I'll be dead before the end of the day. But I will die watching the baby Johnny Depp on 21 Jump Street.

[livejournal.com profile] hellbob & I are home from todays holiday festivities.
We started out the day stopping at [livejournal.com profile] genevra & [livejournal.com profile] akdar's house to help them with the twins while they were busy suffering from food poisoning. After feeding the Monkeys & getting them up to their room for naps we left [livejournal.com profile] genevra & [livejournal.com profile] akdar to lay around being miserable.
Then we headed to the KalHouse to trade gifts with [livejournal.com profile] kaldeth, [livejournal.com profile] kalfoley, girl-child and boy-child. I got another Killer Bunnies expansion set! Yay! Also, [livejournal.com profile] hellbob had the package with my gift sent to their house so that I wouldn't accidentally open it. He found me a copy of the soundtrack to the movie "Legend!" I used to have a copy of it on cassette many many years ago (with Queen's "A Kind Of Magic" on the other side) but never actually owned it, but now I can listen to it again!
Then we headed to Rick's sister's house. We had porketta for dinner and the kids opened their presents. I made his sister cry when she opened one of the boxes from me... It had copies of her wedding pictures, and also pictures from the hospital from both when H was born and when D was born. We got a cool wine bottle decoration with lights in it, and some candles, and some ham, and a cookie jar, and some cookies. We ate porketta for dinner. [livejournal.com profile] hellbob & I also both got roped into doing computer tech support. Although I think [livejournal.com profile] genevra would have been more help than me, because I was helping J figure out how to use the Canon photo software, ZoomBrowser, and I haven't used it for a couple years. Ugh. It was another one of those laptops with the silly extra button under the touchpad.
We had porketta for dinner. Mmmmmm.
And now we're home and I'm going to bed. I feel like crap! Friday I was snuffly. Yesterday it had already moved down into my chest. Today I am coughing up lungs, but even worse than that is the achyness. I just have a dull ache EVERYWHERE! It almost feels like something is touching me just inside my skin. It just a weird feeling. It's not really pain, but it's definitely uncomfortable.
Ugh. Really hope I'm feeling better tomorrow. Or at least not any worse!

Apathy abounds.

Don't wanna work.

[livejournal.com profile] lucky13charm's Christmakwanzakuh gift has been successfully ordered. She may get it before Oscar night this year. *grin*

We get to see visitors from a distant land tonight! [livejournal.com profile] oed_1 & [livejournal.com profile] freyjakj & C are in town from Boston for the holidays. Yay!

Shopping is almost done!

Merry Christmas... I mean Happy Holidays... er... um... Thank you for buying stuff & have a good day...

Text under the cut )

This is an article about all the uproar over whether we should be saying "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" and all that crap.

As far as retail clerks are concerned, I am on the "Happy Holidays" side of things. I've worked several holiday seasons at a bookstore in a part of the Cities with a heavy Jewish population. As I rang customers up there was a good chance that they weren't going to celebrate Christmas. Yes, sometimes I did say Merry Christmas, because it is hard to break thirty years of habit, but I tried to make an effort not to. After all, to those who celebrate Christmas, that is what you are talking about when you say Happy Holidays. That is what they will interpret it as. If you are Jewish and I say Happy Holidays your first thought isn't "but I don't celebrate Christmas."

I am just getting so sick of all the politicians trying to bring religion into politics, and of all the religious leaders trying to convince America that all Americans are Christians. It's just not true! I don't think the government should try to protect Christian beliefs and ideals. They should be protecting all religious freedom, not just Christian.

I am not Christian. Yes, I celebrate Christmas. But to me it is not a religious holiday, it is a family holiday.

It is a time to give gifts to those you care about and spend time with family & friends and eat lots of really good food.

When I do get around to decorating my house I do have a Christmas tree. There is no angel on top. One year we had a stuffed Opus on top. The last few years we have had a Moravian star on top, because 1/4 of my heritage is Moravian.

When we go to my mom & dad's house on Christmas morning I will take all the figures out of the manger and rearrange them. Not because they aren't set up right, but because it is something I have always done ever since I was a kid. Would I like to have that manger set someday? Yes. But not because of the religious meaning. I'd want it because it is something I have a memory of for as far back as I can remember. For as long as I can remember that one wise man has had a broken toe. I have no idea when or how it broke. The set is just plastic, nothing special about it, and the manger itself is a crude homemade manger. But my dad made it and that has more meaning to me than some baby who was born 1000 years ago & may be the son of god, or his mom may have just gotten knocked up and spun a good tale about it.

Yes, people will say Merry Christmas to me. I will say it back. Some will say Happy Holidays, and I will reply with the same. Very few of them will likely say Blessed Yule/Solstice. I won't be resentful of this. I know that whatever people say, it is the thought and not the words that are important. And I know that the majority of people I know celebrate Christmas, whether in a religious way, or just in a family way like me. I can't force them to not say Merry Christmas, just as they can't force me to say it. And I really don't mind. After all, arguing over the proper thing to say kinda defeats the reasons we celebrate, doesn't it? Besides, for over 30 years I have celebrated Christmas with my family and friends. I am just as likely to say Merry Christmas as Happy Holidays. It doesn't mean the Christian politicians have won.
